LVP FAQs
Is LVP better than laminate for basements?
Absolutely. While laminate is water-resistant, LVP is 100% waterproof. If your basement has a minor leak, LVP can even be uninstalled, dried, and reinstalled, whereas laminate would likely swell and be ruined by moisture.
Does LVP need acclimation time?
While LVP is highly stable, we recommend 48 hours of acclimation. This allows the locking mechanisms to reach the home's ambient temperature, ensuring a perfect fit during the click-lock installation process.
Can LVP handle direct sunlight from large windows?
Yes, provided it has an SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) core. We only install rigid core LVP which is designed to withstand temperature fluctuations and direct sunlight without buckling or expanding.
How smooth does my subfloor need to be?
LVP is forgiving, but for a premium feel, the subfloor should be level within 3/16" over a 10ft span. We handle the minor leveling to prevent the 'clicking' sound that occurs with poorly prepared floors.
Is LVP safe for indoor air quality?
Yes. All the LVP products we source are Phthalate-free and FloorScore certified. This ensures that your new floors won't emit harmful chemicals into your living space.
